Mavuto Kapyepye, MCom, ACC, is a high-impact Institutional Development Practitioner with nearly 30 years of experience and an Executive Coach with over a decade of practice. He specializes in catalysing the emergence of "best-version" individuals and organizations through a unique blend of strategic thinking, human-centered systems, and high-level facilitation.
As the Founder and Lead Consultant of the African Centre for Leadership and Institutional Development (ACLID), Mavuto has established a regional hub for excellence that focuses on leadership, governance, and organizational culture. His work is uniquely informed by African Indigenous Knowledge Systems, integrating recognized expertise in cultural heritage preservation with modern leadership frameworks to drive authentic, contextual growth. This expertise was formally recognized with the Indigenous Knowledge Preservation Award in 2022.
Mavuto’s professional footprint extends across 13+ countries, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, and Afghanistan. He has served as a trusted advisor and coach for major organizations such as Standard Bank, Illovo Sugar, USAID, the UN, and the World Bank. Notably, he spent three years coaching 60 African female scientists under the AWARD Leadership Development Programme, enabling them to develop clear career roadmaps and leadership resilience.
A dedicated thought leader, Mavuto contributed a chapter on African leadership perspectives to the 2026 global publication Mosaic Leadership. He has authored 75 articles in a national column titled "Organisational Debate" and has published books on Lhomwe proverbs and names.
Mavuto holds a Master of Commerce in Strategy and Organisational Dynamics from the University of KwaZulu-Natal and is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF), where he served as the Interim President for the Malawi Chapter. His background also includes a Certificate in Psychology from Yale University and certification as an MBTI Psychometrist.
